Jeers to Republican lawmakers storming away from the state capitol, thereby denying Democrats a vote on not only cap-and-trade, but also $45 million toward homeless programs, $200 million for wildfire prevention and suppression, and $11.65 million for flood recovery in northeastern Oregon — just to name a few.
Jeers to Democrats that had staged these walkouts themselves in earlier times.
Bated breath, wondering if progressive groups will someday leverage Salem dysfunction to fundraise for initiative campaigns circumventing legislators altogether. We also wonder if the climate will stop changing to give politicking a chance to catch up — we’re thinking not.
