Update: We are extending our submissions deadline to November 30, 2020
The Corvallis Advocate is opening for creative submissions from October 26, 2020 until November 20, 2020, on the topic of “Impact!”
Whether a car running headlong into a tree, having your first child, one group of friends making a difference to another, or the loss of someone you can’t imagine living without, how does something impact you.
Surprise us, delight us, leave us awestruck, make us cry.
Who We Are
The Corvallis Advocate is a fiercely independent daily newspaper serving Corvallis, Oregon. We provide daily coverage online in addition to a printed magazine with deeper dives on the issues. Hosting regular town hall and debate events are also a core part of our service.
Our primary purpose is to advocate for our shared community. The Corvallis Advocate is led by an Editorial Board, and is locally owned.
As a paper focused on a local community, we ask that you only submit if your work is about Oregon or not obviously about any specific location.
Submit one piece of fiction, creative nonfiction, or an essay up to 1,200 words, up to 5 poems (in one document), and up to 3 high quality photos of your original artwork. You may submit to more than one category per reading period.
Please include a 75 word, third-person biographical statement with your submission.
By submitting to this publication, you ensure that the submission is your original work and has not been previously published. The Corvallis Advocate retains first publishing rights in the U.S. after which all rights return to the artist. Works submitted will be considered for online, end-of-year anthology, and hard copy magazine publication.
Please send your submission via email attachment (.doc files preferred) to firstname.lastname@example.org with a subject that includes the type of submission (i.e. Fiction: Title).
Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to pay our contributors, however if your work is published in a hard copy magazine, you will be sent a copy.
