The Arts Center, or TAC, brings nine artistic views of wildfire and water to their Main Gallery this month, the exhibit opens on Thursday, May 15.
Also, TAC seems to be adding more classes and workshops of late, and this month is no exception – and now add to that, what appears to be a fuller than usual slate of summer classes for both adults and children too.
All that, and a couple of announcements too, here’s the details…
MAIN GALLERY: Wildfire + Water
This work was created during the inaugural Wildfire + Water residency at PLAYA in Summer Lake, Oregon. This timely exhibition explores environmental, spiritual and socio-political issues not only affecting the Chewaucan region, but the entire world.
With the work of nine artists and over a dozen collaborators, Wildfire + Water may leave gallery visitors with more questions than answers. The idea is that by engaging with this exhibition, viewers are confronted with complex, and at times controversial, perspectives that require thoughtful consideration and empathy to fully understand.
The Arts Center’s aspiration is for everyone to take a slow deep look not only at the art created, but at the practical wisdom, theology and science that inspired the work.
The day after open, the exhibit will spill into Central Park for just a short while where Wildfire + Water artist Kelly Yarbrough will lead a game of Burn Ball. For this component, snacks and activities will be provided by The Arts Center and Corvallis Parks and Recreation. Click here for more information.
