Exhibit runs until February 2, 2025. “Am I An American or Am I Not?” asks visitors to think about examples of unfair treatment from our country’s past and present in order to protect the American promises of life, liberty, and justice for all. The exhibition’s title comes from Fred Korematsu, who famously challenged the mass imprisonment of over 125,000 Japanese Americans during WWII. Exhibit runs until February 2, 2025. “Am I An American or Am I Not?” asks visitors to think about examples of unfair treatment from our country’s past and present in order to protect the American promises of life, liberty, and justice for all. The exhibition’s title comes from Fred Korematsu, who famously challenged the mass imprisonment of over 125,000 Japanese Americans during WWII. Memory Quilts Exhibit. Corvallis Museum, 411 SW 2nd Street, Corvallis. 10 am – 4:30 pm until March 16, 2025. Stitched in Memory… Often called friendship quilts, signature quilts, or memory quilts, in the United States the tradition of quilts to memorialize friends, relatives, and communities began in the 1840s. Early examples featured individual blocks contributed by those within a social network, with signatures in indelible ink. As trends and methods changed blocks started to feature embroidery, applique, and fabric paint, and the quilts often included references to activities, hobbies, and personalities as well as names. Corvallis artist, Adeline Hull exhibits emotive figurative work in her solo exhibition, Gently Borrowed Nicety. Her fascination with the interplay between the interpersonal and personal, allows for meaningful exploitation of feelings attached to lingering dialogues or resonating pauses. Through the gaze of a voyeuristic wallflower, she creates paintings using borrowed perspectives and fleeting moments in time while still recognizing herself within the frame.
