Willamette Bewitched is inviting folks for their Second Annual Corvallis Witches Float on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
“Started in 2023 and inspired by the PdxSUP float out of Portland, the annual Corvallis Witches Float is a fun event where we blend the enchanting spirit of Halloween with our love for paddling on the Willamette River. This event invites witches, warlocks, and magical beings of all ages to join in a spell-binding adventure on the water,” said Marcy Hermens, one of the hands making float happen.
So, come dressed in your favorite witchy-look and float with them from Crystal Lake Sports Park to Michael’s Landing Boat Ramp, which is behind the Spaghetti Factory. The event is open to kayaks, SUPs, and canoes only. The organizers also said that a life jacket will absolutely not ruin your magical look, and they are required.
Spectators are invited and encouraged to come watch the launch, as well as to be along the waterway to cheer everyone on.
New this year, they’re proud to announce Peak Sports as the official sponsor of this annual event. Show them some love at: https://www.peaksportscorvallis.com/. As part of this sponsorship, Peak will be providing prize gift bags for the new pre-float costume of the year contest – so come ready to show off your style.
Some caveats
This event is geared towards experienced stand-up paddle boarders and kayakers. You should feel confident on the water as it’s not suitable for beginners. Please be aware there are no lifeguards, guides, or rescue teams. By participating, you acknowledge the inherent risks and are responsible for your own safety. This casual, non-sanctioned gathering promises a fun time, and we hope you join us safely prepared!
