Each year the Housing Committee has gathered donations which they then assemble and pass on to the Corvallis DayCare Drop in Center to distribute to the unhoused population. How to Carry Water. PRAx, 470 SW 15th Street, Corvallis. 10 am – 4 pm until December 21. Guided tours of the exhibition will begin daily at 2 p.m. during normal gallery hours and 6 p.m. on performance nights. The exhibition How to Carry Water brings together contemporary visual artists and humanities scholars in shared observations and questions about watersheds. In this expanded conversation, the term “watershed” refers not only to ecological structures, but also to the spatial, temporal and cultural entities that catalyze collectivity and life alongside bodies of water. The exhibition considers how the lenses of history, philosophy and creative practice allow for alternative methods of witnessing the human relationship to water. In this seminar, Susannah Gibbs, PhD, MSPH will review key considerations for communicating research in applied public health settings to technical and non-technical audiences. The Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra is the oldest continuously operating orchestra in the state of Oregon. 7 – 10 pm. Admission: $10 – $15. Soriah is the stage persona for the internationally recognized artist, Enrique Ugalde. Soriah’s craft is a blending of traditional Khöömei (Tuvan Throat Singing), tempered with Soriah’s own visceral force. Soriah’s use of Khöömei as a transportive medium is an offering to nature in her own tongue, that of organic sound whether it be wind, water or the mimicry of animals. Oregon State University Theatre kicks off its 2024-2025 Season of Scandal with Caryl Churchill’s experimental 1976 play, Vinegar Tom. Set in 17th century England, the story depicts Alice and her cantankerous mother Joan who become targets of slander and persecution for their seemingly transgressive behavior.  By combining historical witch trials with contemporary rock songs and witty dialogue, Churchill creates a haunting and timely examination of gender and power dynamics.
