Preview: Thursday’s Art Walk Offers Wide Variety, Artists Talks

Light on Hairy Water – Jess Felix. Core Gallery: Corvallis Foundry, 257 SW Madison Suite #210

“Wet forest, young motherhood and sleeping with slugs transforms a scream into light photons.”

This series of light-box installations and ceramic sculptures speaks of a landscape made in dreams, of heart-string longings, and sacred findings amongst the deep Oregon undergrowth. I began making these multi-dimensional and deeply layered stark universes during a long winter, as if they would remedy a sadness of being in a new land and feeling domestically frozen, amid a forest-chaos covered in mud & moss, warm skin and terrible beauty.
