Corvallis Farmers Market. Downtown Corvallis, 1^st St., Corvallis. 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Free. The Corvallis Farmers Market happens Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 9am to 1pm, April through November, on First Street in downtown Corvallis. The Farmers Market offers fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy and more, all sourced locally from Benton County and the counties immediately surrounding Benton County. Get Outdoors Day. Peavy Arboretum, NW Peavy Arboretum Rd., Corvallis. 10 a.m. Free. A free event aimed at connecting people in Benton and Linn counties to outdoor recreational opportunities is scheduled for June 3 at Peavy Arboretum. The local Get Outdoors Day, sponsored by the Oregon State University Research Forests, the OSU Extension Service, the Benton County Health Department and Linn and Benton counties, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as part of National Get Outdoors Day, or GO Day. This will be the 12th edition of the event but the first at Peavy Arboretum since 2019. Bilingual (Spanish and English) volunteers will be on hand to provide interpretation during family activities that include disc golf; wildlife- and plant-related artwork creation; interactive demonstrations about fire ecology, logging sports and outdoor skills; and free fishing for children 13 and younger. More than 20 organizations from throughout the Willamette Valley are working together to host the event, dedicated to encouraging healthy, active outdoor fun. Peavy Arboretum is on Arboretum Road about 8 miles north of Corvallis, just west of Highway 99W. Onsite parking is not available but a shuttle service is available from Crescent Valley High School, 4444 N.W. Highland Drive. The shuttles from Crescent Valley will start at 10 a.m., with departures happening about every 20 minutes. Corvallis Community Children’s Centers 55th Anniversary Celebration. Corvallis Community Children’s Centers, 3285 NE Oxford Cir., Corvallis. 11 a.m. Free. Corvallis Community Children’s Centers, a nonprofit that has cared for thousands of children in the community, will celebrate its 55th anniversary with a block party event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 3 at its location at 3285 NE Oxford Circle in Corvallis. The childcare center invites the community to reminisce, look through old photos and newspaper clippings and talk with children, parents and staff who have been involved throughout the years. The center’s newly-remodeled campus will be available for tours, in addition to a fire truck and police vehicle on the scene for children to explore. Benton County Events Center & Fairgrounds, 110 SW 53rd St., Corvallis. 11 a.m. $20-$25. 64 Bits or Less is an outdoor retro gaming event where you can play all your favorite video game classics on original hardware, sponsored by the Portland Retro Gaming Expo and held in Oregon at the Benton County Events Center & Fairgrounds. Originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania and currently based in New York, Samantha’s brilliantly-crafted jokes and loveable stage persona may remind you of a Millennial version of the great Paula Poundstone. In addition to performing stand-up on both The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she has also worked on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, appeared as a panelist on NPR’s Ask Me Another, and is a regular announcer for the annual NYC Pride March. Corvallis Jazz Night. Whiteside Theatre, 361 SW Madison Ave., Corvallis. 7 p.m. $10 in advance, $15 at the door. BEN MUTSCHLER TRIO: Oregon State University’s own Ben Mutschler on tenor sax, joined by Steve Willis on guitar and Marcus Rudolph on drums. Mutschler’s full, rich sound on the tenor is reminiscent of Sonny Rollins, yet with a more modern language and a unique rhythm section. BEN WOODMAN & DAVE CHILLER: Guitarist Ben Woodman has been developing his unique gypsy-jazz meets West African sound on the guitar for over a decade in the Willamette Valley. Here he is joined by percussionist Dave Chiller, who is steeped in a wide array of cultural influences from Indian to South American. Chiller plays tabla, cajon, handpans and more, to accompany the rich originals and arrangements of Woodman. The dialogue between the two is electrifying. They will be joined for the 2nd half of their set by Nick Rivard on guitar, local jazz guitarist and member of The Space Neighbors. WILSTORMEYER TRIO: 3 master improvisers packed into one name- Steve Willis on upright bass, Dave Storrs on drums, and Brian Meyers on tenor sax/clarinet/flute. These 3 have been gracing the Willamette Valley with their deep listening and musical dialogues for years. Dave Storrs is a creative-music institution unto himself; countless sessions and records have been produced at his Corvallis studio, 5th&B. Steve Willis is a veteran upright bassist, with a decades-long relationship to his instrument. Sip & Shimmy. Midway Farms, 6980 NW HWY 20, Albany. 2 p.m. Join Midway Farms for a special Sip & Shimmy event in the glorious open garden! The event begins at 6 p.m. with a belly dance class led by a member of the local Tribal Rising Dance troupe. No experience required for this class. People of all levels, shapes, sizes, and abilities are welcome. Bring a yoga mat to sit on for the opening and closing stretching. After class, shop at the wonderful organic, gluten free farm store, and sip on a glass of wine. With their newest record, Turn My Radio Up, The Coffis Brothers salute the glory days of the FM dial while planting their flag firmly in the present. Produced by Bay Area legend (and longtime Mother Hips frontman) Tim Bluhm, the album makes equal room for heartland rock & roll anthems, front-porch folk songs, and campfire-worthy Americana ballads. Brothers Jamie and Kellen Coffis were raised in the Santa Cruz Mountains of northern California, an area whose woodsy imagery left a permanent mark on their sound. “It’s all-American music,” says Kellen, who shares frontman duties with Jamie. “There’s rock, blues, acoustic folk, and country in there.
