Linn County officials announced on Monday morning that the county was victimized by a ransomware attack.
The attack impacted a number of the county’s computers, causing Information Technology staff to shut down the affected systems at 6:00 a.m. on Monday morning. As of Wednesday afternoon, the Linn County website was still down, alongside several other systems.
Officials have said that the attack is affecting their ability to provide service to the public. While the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and Health Services Department aren’t affected, according to officials, some Health Services were shut down as a precaution.
Anyone who needs to contact the county should do so by phone, directly calling the required department until this is resolved.
