Land, Water Conservation Grant Applications to Open in September

The Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant Program (LWCF) will be accepting applications for the 2022 grant cycle between Sept. 1 and Nov. 1.

The LWCF is a federal reimbursement grant program that matches grants to state and local governments for the development, acquisition, and rehabilitation of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities.

Roughly $4 million in funds are available for the 2022 cycle, with eligible applicants for funding including cities, counties, federally recognized Tribal governments, metropolitan service districts, and Oregon state agencies.

Those interested can attend an optional webinar on Aug. 24 from 9 – 11 a.m. to gain information and guidance on the application process. A recording of the webinar will be uploaded here after it’s finished.

The LWCF application will be available here when the grant cycle opens for applications. New applicants will need to first request an account via the site linked above before they’re able to complete the application process.

LWCF is funded through the National Park Service and administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. The program has awarded over $80 million in grants for Oregonian recreational areas and facilities since 1964.

Additional information about the program can be found here. Interested parties may reach out to Nohemi Enciso at nohemi.enciso@oprd.oregon.gov or 503-480-9092.
