This is a fun and fulfilling opportunity for someone involved with parenting. The ideal candidate either knows, or wants to learn, everything related to kids and parents here in Corvallis – from the fun stuff to health, education, and available resources. You’ll be in contact with the locals that make things happen for area families, cover school board meetings, and help champion people and programs that make a difference for our community’s kids and parents.
This is a weekly column due on Tuesday nights, then a few paragraphs summarizing school board meetings, which generally take place two Thursdays a month. Once you’re acclimated, we’ll also welcome story pitches from you, if you’d like to further spread your wings.
Pay
This is community journalism, so we promise the pay is lousy, slightly less so if you have experience. On the plus side, there may be room for advancement, and you’ll work with someone that has 15 years experience editing a parenting magazine.
If you’re interested, send an email to editor@corvallisadvocate.com. Send a brief employment history, a writing sample, and some ideas of why you think you’d be a good fit.
