Benton County Receives $5M for Crisis Center

The new Benton County Crisis Center just got a boost from the state to the tune of $5 million.

Meant to provide short or long-term treatment, the center will provide a safe space for individuals other than jail or the emergency room

Danielle Brown, the behavioral health deputy director for the Benton County Health Department, said to KLCC, “What we’re really trying to achieve is having clients that don’t need the hospital or jail, have an alternative level of care that doesn’t currently exist. So if law enforcement is engaging with a community member repeatedly for mental health crisis-type behaviors, they can bring them to the crisis center … in order to get support.”

The new center is targeting being ready by the end of 2022, and is part of the overall Benton County Justice System planned for the county.
