OSU Upcoming Board Meeting to Discuss New President

The Oregon State University Board of Trustees will hold a three-day meeting.  

On October 6 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Board will meet in the Peavy Forest Science Center to discuss the governance roles, responsibilities, shared governance, and essential elements of the upcoming presidential search behind closed doors. 

On October 7, the Board committees will meet in the Horizon room of the Memorial Union at 2501 S.W, Jefferson Way. These meetings will be open to the public and will include the following subsections: 

  • From 9:15 to 10:15 a.m., the Executive & Audit Committee will meet to discuss possible amendments to the board’s delegation of authority policy and hear the board chair’s report on the president’s proposed fiscal year 2022 goals. 
  • From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Finance & Administration Committee will meet to hear an update on the fiscal year 2022 operating budget and receive a capital project status report and to consider quarterly financial reports; the committee’s 2022 work plan; adjustments of financial metrics and operating ranges and associated amendments to the debt and liquidity management policies; and advancements of capital projects related to the LaSells Stewart Center and the Valley Library. 
  • From 1:45 to 5 p.m. The Academic Strategies Committee will meet to consider the committee’s 2022 work plan. The committee will hear a briefing on faculty affairs, talent management, and compliance with state and other requirements related to student-athletes engaging in name, image and likeness activities. 

On October 8, also in the Horizon Room, the Board will consider action items recommended by Board committees; the Board’s 2022 work plan; and the preliminary timeline and process for the next presidential search.  

The Board also will hear a report and host a panel discussion with faculty and others on the university’s efforts to advance equity, inclusion and social justice. During this meeting there will be a public comment period. The public may attend the meeting in-person or join it virtually to provide comment. Registration to comment may be done by email to lauren.skousen@oregonstate.edu or during the meeting. Public comments can be accepted also before the board votes on each agenda item. 

COVID19 restriction will be in place, requiring masks as well as either proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative test result within the last three days in order to attend meetings in-person.
