Romance novelist Beverly Jenkins and publicist Pamela Jaffee will be appearing at a special online event sponsored by the Grass Roots Bookstore as the first event of Romance Literature Month. These established romance fiction professionals will be talking about the state of romance fiction today.
Jenkins is the recipient of the 2018 Michigan Author Award by the Michigan Library Association, the 2017 Romance Writers of America Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as the 2016 Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Award for historical romance. She has been nominated for the NAACP Image Award in Literature, was featured in both the documentary film Love Between the Covers and has appeared on CBS Sunday Morning. Since the publication of her first book, Night Song, in 1994, she has been a leading advocate for what she calls “inclusive romance,” seeking to break the traditional model of romance novels featuring exclusively white protagonists and often exclusively white characters. To learn more about her, visit her web site.
Pamela Jaffee has a talent with media which she could use for almost anything. Applying it to promote the books she has loved all her life is what makes her happiest, though. Let’s Talk About Romance is just one of the many ways she has found to use media, new and traditional, to promote the writings of authors like Jenkins.
