GOP Takes Aim at DeFazio

For those thinking that election season is behind us, surprise! There are already warring ads on local tv focused on Oregon’s 4th District Representative Peter DeFazio.

DeFazio, a Democrat from Springfield, said that a GOP Political Action Committee has been targeting him.

“Some super-PAC bought a hundred thousand dollars’ worth of ads attacking me, linking me to Nancy Pelosi, saying we wanted to take away drugs from seniors because we want Medicare to be able to negotiate lower drug prices for seniors,” DeFazio said to KLCC.

In response, DeFazio said the Majority PAC in the House of Representatives made its own ad, which mentioned DeFazio’s role in the American rescue package. This included his fight to resume Amtrak’s long-distance routes by negotiating $1.7 Billion to restore service.

In the 2021 election, DeFazio was challenged by Republican Alek Skarlatos, who plans to run again for the 4th District seat in 2022. Until then, there will be plenty of time to determine which candidate you think is best, so all that is left to do is revel in warring ads.
