Corvallis’ yearly effort to reduce single-vehicle use on local streets, the Get There Challenge, is set to begin in early October.
The event goes from Oct. 4-17, and those who wish to participate can register here to earn points towards badges and both weekly and grand prize drawings.
Whether you choose to participate by simply working remotely or logging trips on public transit, there are a massive number of ways you can participate, including:
- Watch videos on pedestrian and bike safety tips, taking a quiz to verify your newfound knowledge.
- Learn about cybersecurity, taking a three-question quiz.
- Make a pledge to use public transportation or bikes to get to work.
- Learn about desk ergonomics and improve your office setup.
- Talk about how you’ve integrated your furry friend into your daily routine and commute.
There’s other ways you can earn points. The curious can click here to see more.
This competition is open to anyone over the age of 18. Potential weekly prizes include a $100 Oregon E-Bikes gift card, WiFi extenders, six $50 Made in Oregon gift cards, and more. The grand prizes consist of two $500 cash cards or $1,500 towards a new custom folding bike from Bike Friday, based in Eugene.
The Get There Challenge is powered by Get There, a company working in over 100 countries, self-described as, “the industry’s most sophisticated and reliable online travel management solution.”
Get There is supported by ODOT, and any questions can be directed to Josh Capps, the Active Transportation Program Specialist in Corvallis.
