Calling all music lovers and record collectors! On June 12, 2021, stores in Corvallis are celebrating Record Store Day.
Record Store Day is an annual, international event where thousands of store owners come together to celebrate the unique culture of stores that still sell vinyls, and the vital role those stores play in their local communities. On this day, big musicians like Ariana Grande, Beck, Styx, and many more release never-before-heard, exclusive albums that can only be purchased in person at brick-and-mortar indie record stores.
This is also a great opportunity to support Corvallis’ local record stores — and maybe even meet other collectors in the area.
Happy Trails Records located at 100 SW 3rd St. will have a plethora of exclusive Record Store Day releases. A few days before June 12, the available records will be put on display but cannot be purchased until the actual day. These records are sold on a first-come-first-serve basis, so make sure to show up early to get your pick.
Pre Atomic Records located at 425 SW Madison Ave. is celebrating Record Store Day by opening their doors extra early at 8:00 a.m. in anticipation of the big event. They will have a large selection of limited releases from artists like Lady Gaga to Thelonious Monk to the Grateful Dead. Pre Atomic Records will also have plenty of other record store day releases in stock, along with fun promotional giveaways throughout the day.
Every owner handpicks which records they will have on sale so not all stores will have the same selection. Make sure to visit both Corvallis stores for the full Record Store Day experience. Already have plans for June 12? No worries! Record Store Day is being split into two days this year to limit large groups of people. On July 17, 2021, record stores will celebrate Record Store Day once again.
