As Corvallis’ only alternative newspaper, The Advocate is committed to providing a platform for the people of color in our community.
In light of the recent murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd – and the countless other people of color before them – as well as the protests that have followed, we would like to hear your voice. We feel that it is not only important, but vital, for the Corvallis community to listen to those directly impacted by these events, and by America’s history of systemic racism.
However you would like to express your thoughts, whether it be through an opinion editorial piece, any medium of art, or a video message, we want to hear from you.
While we are a diverse staff in many ways at The Advocate, we currently do not have anyone of color on staff, which is why we are committed to being allies and serving our neighbors as best we can. Please don’t hesitate to offer feedback on how we and others can stand up for black lives and all others who are impacted.
Please send any written works, artwork, or videos to firstname.lastname@example.org. Submissions will be published continuously. Anonymous submissions are welcome.
