Today, Gov. Kate Brown ordered a broader range of businesses to close, and further restricted childcare and park facilities. It takes effect immediately, no end date is stated.
The full text of the order is here. The so called ‘Stay home’ order still permits going out for walks and hikes, and a number of businesses are not yet currently listed. Restaurants can still offer takeout service and delivery.
Likewise, other businesses seemingly unaffected include bike shops, nurseries, cannabis shops, car dealerships, and liquor stores, among others.
However, you won’t be able to get a haircut. The list of closures emphasizes businesses where people gather, or where there is direct physical contact. Also, the order allows the Oregon Health Authority to recommend additions to the governor.
Businesses ordered to close: Amusement parks; aquariums; arcades; art galleries (to the extent they are open without appointment); barber shops and hair salons; bowling alleys; cosmetic stores; dance studios; esthetician practices; fraternal organization facilities; furniture stores; gyms and fitness studios (including climbing gyms); hookah bars; indoor and outdoor malls (i.e., all portions of a retail complex containing stores and restaurants in a single area); indoor party places (including jumping gyms and laser tag); jewelry shops and boutiques; medical spas, facial spas, day spas, and non-medical massage therapy services; museums; nail and tanning salons; non-tribal card rooms; skating rinks; senior activity centers; ski resorts; social and private clubs; tattoo/piercing parlors; tennis clubs; theaters; yoga studios; and youth clubs.
Playgrounds and baseball fields are also closed.
For businesses that do remain open: The order states businesses must allow employees to work from home if possible, and to ensure 6 feet of separation between workers, otherwise.
Childcare facilities are ordered to prioritize serving the children of first responders.
