Original Allan’s Coffee On 2nd St Closing Sunday May 26

Allan’s Coffee, also known as the Beanery, announced that it will be closing its original location on South 2nd Street on Sunday, May 26. It has occupied that space since 1972.

This news follows the closures of Allan’s north Corvallis location as well as many of its stores across the state, in Salem and Eugene, over the last year. Allan Stuart, founder and namesake of the company, retired in November 2018.

According to a press release from the company, they are ending a 47 year run at the location after “lengthy but stalled negotiations with the building’s current property owners.” They say that negotiations with their landlords began in August 2018, and for the past nine months they have been searching for “an amicable agreement,” but claim the building’s owners have “chosen to go in a different direction.”

Allan’s plans to transition the business to a mobile coffee trailer located in the parking lot of their old building, while looking for new real estate in downtown Corvallis. They hope to have their coffee trailer operation up and running in 45 days or less.
