Glassmire Resigns City Council Seat

Bill Glassmire has resigned his Ward 7 City Councilor seat, effective immediately.

Citing health reasons, Glassmire was injured in a July 10 cycling collision. It’s anticipated that a special election will be held on November 5 to fill his seat, so those seeking the office will need to pick up an application by August 30, and have it turned in by September 5.

While running for his third term last year, Glassmire wrote, “In 2019-20 I intend to introduce economic inequality into local discussions about economic vitality. In reading and thinking about inequality, I have realized a little-known fact based on experimental evidence: economic inequality is bad for the community as a whole, rich people and poor people alike. A specific goal for me is to recommend the book The Broken Ladder by Keith Payne to 100 people. It is available from the public library.”
