Corvallis is slated to join the national parade of Women’s Marches this Saturday, January 19. Locally, the march runs from 12 noon, to 3pm, in Central Park. Brandy Lea Fortson has been a driving force behind the scenes for this year’s event, which is co-hosted by Heart of The Valley DSA.
The national site points to the positive impacts these marches have had, saying, “The 2017 Women’s March inspired hundreds of women to run, millions more to vote, and dozens to win elected office. The 2019 Women’s March marks two years of resistance to the Trump presidency, two years of training new activists, and two years of building power. And this time, we’re coming back with an agenda.”
Locally, Paige Kreismen will emcee, and speakers include: Shelley Moon, Nasim Basiri, Ella Morton, Luhui Whitebear, and Brandy Fortson There will also be a performance from Frisky the Transgender Reindeer from the Haus of Dharma.
