The Corvallis Transit System (CTS) will be holding an open house highlighting their upcoming service expansion – the largest growth in services in a decade. The Open house is on Tuesday, August 20 at 500 SW Madison, in the Madison Avenue Meeting Room, from 5 – 7 pm.
Some of the highlighted changes include extending evening hours for Routes 1-8, as well as the addition of Sunday service to Routes 1-6, from 10 am to 6 pm. During the school year, “Peak Service” runs will be added to Routes 1, 5, and 6 in the morning and afternoon. A heavily revamped Route 8 will connect more stops in southwestern Corvallis, as well as Grand Oaks. And the new, half-hourly Route 20 will loop through downtown via 2nd and 5th streets, seven days a week. CTS maps have also been updated to include schools.
The expansions are made possible by the Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund. A part of Keep Oregon Moving, the STIF is paid for by the statewide 0.1% transit tax.
The open house will serve as an opportunity for the public to preview and plan for the expanded bus service, which will go into effect Sunday, September 8. Spanish interpretation services will be provided.
