Corvallis Students Join National Climate Action

This afternoon, Corvallisites gathered on the Oregon State University Memorial Union quad seeking to combat climate change.

Uniting with the national youth movement Sunrise, today’s Corvallis event featured multiple speakers, including OSU undergraduate students, Corvallis High School students, and professor Bill Ripple from the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences. All spoke of the importance of the youth’s fight for their own future, and attendees ranged from young to old.

Signs were given to the strikers, reading “Science is Real,” “Give Science it’s Day in Court,” and “The Youth Also Rise.” The “raging grannies” or “Sunsetters” also sang “Sing for the Climate,” which pumped the crowd up for the main event, a march around the Oregon State University campus.
