CitySpeak: State of the Press

We journalists have some things to say, and a humor all of our own, so mark your calendars for our October 10 CitySpeak event, all about the state and survival of the press – as it presses on.

We’ll be hosting an hour with Eugene Weekly Editor Camilla Mortensen and KLCC Director Jim Rondeau. Advocate Editor Stevie Beisswanger and Orange Media are also slated to join in on the discussion. The focus of the conversation will be the challenges, opportunities, and surprises of working in media today – plus some thoughts on the future of local journalism.

Given the special election coming up, we will also be hosting a debate among candidates for Bill Glassmire’s seat on the City Council, and a brief Q&A on the 911 taxing district.

The schedule is as follows:

6:30, Journalism Now, and Into the Future

7:30, City Council Ward 7 Debate

8:00, The proposed 911 Taxing District

The event will be held at the Old World Deli, 341 SW 2nd St. Co-sponsored by the Corvallis Advocate and City Club of Corvallis, attendance is free, and generous time is allotted for audience Q&A.
