About This Issue: Celebrating Corvallis Creatives

In Memory of Eric Austin

This special issue of The Advocate features local creative folks of all kinds—from poets and authors, to artists and photographers, invoking feelings and images of grief, gratitude, awe, and complex identity issues.

The issue is dedicated in memory of Eric Austin, beloved son and local author. An avid book collector, and lover of music, reading, and writing, Eric was employed as a reporter and copy editor at The Advocate during the Spring and Summer of 2018, up until his untimely death on June 27 of that year. Eric died suddenly at the age of 32, when he was struck and killed by a driver while riding his bike through the crosswalk near the South Corvallis Co-op. His death continues to move the community, and his short story, Will, is featured here, alongside various other works from local community members.

Enjoy this special issue, and keep sending your work to editor@corvallisadvocate.com for more chances to be featured in future issues of The Corvallis Advocate
