Comedy Night: Matt Braunger, Oct 13

Known for such things, the Majestic Theatre in Corvallis will be having another exceptional comedian visiting on October 13. Matt Braunger, who you’ve probably heard on your Pandora radio station, will be doing a show next week for all of us Corvallis locals— and whoever is willing to drive from elsewhere.

Having released a few recorded routines and specials on popular streaming services—as well as having appeared at least once on almost every late night show in existence—Braunger definitely has skin in the game. A twenty year veteran of the art, his sets go all out and exhibit no hesitation in their quest to leave you doubling over in empathetic pain and laughter.

For a little background, Braunger grew up in Chicago, then moved to Portland for a bit before eventually settling in Los Angeles to—you guessed it-—pursue an acting career. A late 90s Braunger could have been spotted working any open mic he could find, but it wasn’t long before his content became refined and, with the aid of some comedian comrades, he became the deadly joke telling machine we all know and love.

In the early days, Braunger worked as a closed caption writer for the hearing impaired. He has expressed gratitude for this job, as his work allowed him the vital time he needed to go to events and pursue his career in comedy.

While he never expected things to fall into place the way they have, I for one am glad they did. And if you don’t already know his work, I feel confident that you will be too.

I expect tickets could very well sell out for this one, so get them while they’re hot.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m., with an opening by JoAnn Schinderle.Tickets are $14 and on sale now at majestic.org. For more information go to CorvallisComedyNight.com or contact the Majestic box office at 541-738-7469, or email info@majestic.org.
