What do beer, constructing homes and alt weeklies have in common? They’re all community builders!
Okay, writing jokes isn’t my forte. But on Thursday, May 24, you can benefit two community-oriented organizations by pregaming for the weekend at five favorite downtown locations.
The happy hour bar crawl, hosted by The Advocate, kicks off at Cloud & Kelly’s with “Advocate-style icebreakers” (I don’t know what that means either). Next up is pool and shenanigans at Squirrel’s Tavern, followed by tabletop “grown-up” gaming at Crowbar (think Cards Against Humanity and Telestrations After Dark), and ending with mouth-watering desserts at Castor. Those left standing will be welcome to join the after party with a few Advocateers for karaoke and more pool at The Peacock.
At the start of the crawl, The Advocate will debut a Happy Hour grid, available for purchase, compounding all happy hour locations, times, and specials in Corvallis. They’ll also be dishing out prizes to participants. For what? You’ll just have to come and see for yourself.
All locations are free entry. Participants will be stamped and portions of food and drink proceeds will benefit Benton Habitat for Humanity and The Corvallis Advocate—as they struggle to stay afloat in the perishing world of alt weeklies and to compensate and deliver the quality work that their writers and community members deserve.
