Costume Contest And Scary Story Submissions

Creative Costume Contest

Think you have the scariest, funniest, or most clever costume in town? We’ll be the judges of that – literally.

That’s right, The Corvallis Advocate is offering prizes for the top 3 best costumes in town this Halloween, and will be publishing the winners’ pictures in the Halloween issue on October 26. Criteria? Nah, we just like what we like, but everyone with a creative and unique costume is encouraged to give it a shot.

Once all dressed up, either tag The Corvallis Advocate on our Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram, or just send it to the old fashion way. Submissions due no later than Thursday, October 19. Overtly offensive costumes will be removed.

We are looking forward to judging you all more than usual.

Scary Short Stories

If you or someone you know writes short stories that are thrilling, chilling, or otherwise Halloween-esque, send us a copy and it just might get published.

We at The Corvallis Advocate will be publishing three to five of our favorite 250 to 300 word scary stories in our Halloween issue on Oct. 26, and maybe a few more online if the competition is fierce.

Only one submission per trick-or-treater. Send your submission to by Oct. 19 and you might just find yourself in our prestigious publication.
