House of Brews comes to Corvallis

fall-beerThe boot scooters and SPAM have moved out, but the former location of Jack Okole’s Bar & Grill didn’t stay empty for long. The House of Brews, a new establishment planning to offer everything from steak and potatoes to an extensive tap list and custom cocktail creations, is set to open in the space toward the end of March.

“I found the location the first day the owner [of the building] listed it. It’s spacious. It’s got great curb appeal and tall, high ceilings, and it was big enough to develop what I think is one of the largest capacity restaurants in town,” said House of Brews owner Ken Moon.

House of Brews, which will be located at 140 NW 3rd Street, Suite B, will feature an “upscale casual” concept. “It’s fine dining in a casual atmosphere,” said Moon. “There will be about 150 items on the menu. We’ll produce everything from scratch, in-house, and use locally sourced products and locally farmed proteins.”

Moon said that after searching throughout the state for a location, Corvallis was the place he settled on for his House of Brews. He previously owned and operated several other locations in California, and Moon now hopes to introduce the Corvallis crowd to a restaurant where people can find a good steak, along with fresh seafood, salads, soups, and more.

“We’ll be serving lunch and dinner seven days a week,” said Moon.

On the alcohol side of things, House of Brews will feature 29 Pacific Northwest craft drafts on tap, a West Coast wine list with about 20 varieties, and cocktails. Moon expanded, “I also plan on having a very large selection of more than 100 choices of bottles and cans. I think, within the next few months, we’ll be within 200 [total] choices.”

Chef Evan Woodward has been brought on to run the food portion of the business. And Moon mentioned there’s still some training to do and a soft opening tentatively planned for around the third week of March.
