Scott Helmer Concert Benefits Seven Local Arts Organizations

ScottHelmerCountry music is usually about the woes of life. My woman left me, even my dog left me, but at least I’ve got my pickup truck… oh no. It just left me, too.

You know. The classics.

Scott Helmer, a touring country musician, is looking to turn those woes into charity. Since May of last year, Helmer has been touring the country with the goal of raising one million dollars for charities and historic theaters across the nation. His latest stop on the generosity tour is our very own Whiteside Theatre.

Helmer’s work is unprecedented as benefit concerts are usually one-off events or limited run tours. Helmer has extended the usual benefit timeline throughout the entire past year. As of May 11, Helmer and company have raised over $300,000 for the tour’s numerous beneficiaries.

Recipients of Helmer’s benefit money this time out include the Arts Center, Benton Community Foundation, Chintimini Chamber Music Festival, Oregon State University’s Liberal Arts College, Corvallis Repertory Singers, Corvallis Knights, and the Whiteside Theatre. McWeenies, Sky High Brewing, and Feisty Fudge will all offer their wares at the event.

If you want to help Helmer help Corvallis, all while enjoying a night of music and food, this concert is for you.

Scott Helmer performs at the Whiteside on Friday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased early through for $7, or at the door for $10. A special meet-and-greet tier will be available for $25.
