Question Your Legislator: Town Hall This Saturday

TownhallAs an important election draws near, Oregon representatives are ramping up their efforts to talk shop with local voters at town hall gatherings. On the heels of last Saturday’s 2014 Legislature meeting at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, Senator Betsy Close and representatives Sara Gelser and Jim Thompson will return to the library this Saturday to discuss their legislative plans for this year and engage in a moderated Q&A session.

Tony Van Vliet will serve again as moderator for the discussion. This is a free, 90-minute public meeting, and as always residents are encouraged to bring their questions. It will be interesting to see what legislative issues our elected officials have on the docket this time. Budget adjustments, Cover Oregon, liquor in grocery stores, and marijuana legislation are just a small sample of topics expected to be addressed. In other words, there’s plenty to talk about.

The event is co-sponsored by the Corvallis Library and the League of Women Voters Corvallis.

The Town Hall Meeting is a free event on Saturday, March 8 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Benton County Library, 645 NW Monroe Avenue.
