This past Monday night was met with news that Corvallis Mayor Julie Manning would not be seeking a second term, much to the dismay of many citizens and city government members alike. The announcement, made at a City Council Meeting, drew comments from a few councilors, including Dan Brown and Biff Traber, which were complimentary of the job she has done, yet downtrodden at the thought of her exit from office.
First elected back in 2010 with a crushing 72% of the vote, Manning brought the attitude and experience needed from her long history at Samaritan as well as time serving on the Corvallis Budget Commission and many other boards and committees that help guide the fate and well-being of the area.
Citing time as the main element behind her decision, she simultaneously announce that she’ll be returning to full-time duties as the VP for Marketing, PR and Development at Samaritan Health Services.
