Broadway classic, Gypsy, is coming to the Majestic Theatre’s main stage from Friday, May 9 to Sunday, May 25. Join famous stage mother Rose as she and her daughters June and Louise travel across the United States during the era when burlesque was born.
Based on the book by Arthur Laurents and memoirs from Rose Lee, Jule Styne’s music and Stephen Sondheim’s lyrics shed light on the hardships of show business life in the 1920s. This production is directed by Damond Morris with musical director Jim Martinez.
The original 1959 Broadway cast featured Ethel Merman and the great Jack Klugman, later of The Odd Couple fame on TV, and later casts of the oft-revived show would feature acting legends such as Angela Lansbury and Bernadette Peters.
A gala dinner and show package is available for purchase for the Saturday, May 10 showing only. This package includes dinner at LUC’s, a front and center seat at Gypsy, and exclusive access to the upstairs lounge for dessert and drinks.
