Being mayor is bound to present many challenges, especially in a college town like Corvallis. On Monday, Dec. 8 at the Corvallis City Club meeting, outgoing mayor Julie Manning will offer insights into her last four years leading the city. In an interview with Gazette-Times editor Mike McNally, Manning will share her views about the job, and will address issues such as the most interesting parts of her job, the most rewarding, the biggest surprises, toughest issues she has faced, how she managed to balance being mayor with her day job at Samaritan, and many more. She’ll also give advice for anyone who may be thinking about taking on a role as a city volunteer or elected representative.
The Corvallis City Club meeting is open to the public. The club meets in the Les Schwab Gym at the Boys & Girls Club, 1112 NW Circle Boulevard. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting starts at noon. Attendance is free, but a catered lunch supplied by Café Yumm is available to purchase ($10 for members, $12 for non-members). Registration is necessary only if you would like lunch. You may register by email at info@cityclubofcorvallis.org with “City Club December 8” in the subject line by Thursday, Dec. 4.
