Downtown Party Signals the Changing of the Season

By Dave DeLuca

Fall FestThe leaves are turning color, the breezes are cooling, and the kids are back in school. It must be time to don our Beaver hoodies and head downtown for Fall Fest.

The 42nd edition of Corvallis’ biggest festival will feature 160 regionally known artists, children’s art activities, and musical entertainment. Festival goers should come hungry, because several local restaurants will provide a large food court with microbrews, local wines, and spirits.

The little ones will marvel at the Art Discovery Zone with its variety of fun activities. Budding artists aged 9 to 17 will be selling their work at the Young Artists Marketplace.

More art on display and for sale will include paintings, prints, ceramics, jewelry, wood turnings, glassware, wearable art, metalwork, and more.

The Community Stage will entertain crowds with music, theater, and dance. The Main Stage will feature Cherry and the Lowboys, Norman, Coming Up 3s, and the OSU Steel Band.

Saturday night will conclude with street dancing to the music of Portland’s Strange Tones and dancing duo The Volcano Vixens.

Sunday’s Fall Festival Run will include 1K, 5K, and 10K races on a scenic course. Proceeds from the race will serve the young and elderly of the Corvallis area.

The Fall Festival takes place the weekend of September 27th and 28th in Central Park.  A free shuttle will be provided from the parking lot at Avery Square. For more information or to register for the run go to www.corvallisfallfestival.org. Admission is free.
