Cure for the Summertime Brews

By Patrick Fancher

BeerCheers to the Corvallis Craft Beer Association for merging the two beloved summertime staples of sunshine and beer into one blockbuster event on Saturday, July 26. The group looks to celebrate Oregon Craft Beer Month in one fell swoop with an all-day community picnic at Cornelius Orchard & Farm with signature brews on tap courtesy of 10 prized Corvallis and Albany breweries.

And what better way to accompany the quality selection of suds than with tasty pub grub via food carts and vendors from Les Caves, Bombs Away Cafe, Ploughman’s Lunch, and Kalamata Bistro? This family-friendly affair will also include live music from Dram & Go and Bon Ton Roulet, a fundraising “Dunk-a-Brewer” dunk tank, a Hole-in-One disc golf challenge, and many lawn games and activities to keep your kiddos entertained.

Talented brewers from 2 Towns Ciderhouse, Block 15, Calapooia Brewing, Deluxe Brewing, Flat Tail Brewing, Mazama Brewing, McMenamins on Monroe, Nectar Creek Meadery, Oregon Trail Brewery, and Sky High Brewing will showcase their craft selections for this can’t-miss event.

Bringing your own lawn chairs and blankets is encouraged, as is carpooling. Alternative transportation will be provided by a free shuttle (available from 1 to 9 p.m.) which is scheduled to make stops at the picnic, Block 15, and the Red Fox Cafe.

The Craft Beer Picnic is from noon to 9 p.m. at Cornelius Orchard & Farm, 3375 SW 53rd Street in Corvallis. Admission is $6, or free for kids under 12 (cash only). For more info, visit
