Simon Says, Go to Science Pub: OSU’s Megan McClelland Talks Self-Reliance and Cognitive Development

The upcoming September 9th Science Pub at Old World Deli will see participants engage on the topic of self-reliance, specifically as a development tool in young children that will later become greatly important as they move through life. Through the lens of games like Simon Says and Red Light, Green Light, the way children practice and learn self-regulation will be linked to emotion, thought and behavior.

Science+PubThis edition will feature Megan McClelland, who is an associate professor at OSU’s College of Public Health and Human Sciences, as well as the director of the Early Childhood Research Core in the Hallie E. Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families at Oregon State. She specializes in researching both cognitive and social development in young children, in addition to how these factors affect school readiness.

Whether you’re a first timer and this topic tickles your fancy, or a Science Pub veteran—or just someone that really likes beer—the food and fun starts at 6pm and runs until 8pm.
