Wow! Fitness to Close Doors After 32 Years: Corvallis Business Culture Takes a Hit
It’s a sad day for any community when a business that has been around for over thirty years closes its doors. It leaves a hole in the culture for those who have been a part of the city that is difficult, if not impossible, to ever replace. After 32 years of operation, Corvallis’ only downtown fitness center and gym, Wow! Fitness, will be closing down for good as of August 31st. Reasons cited include a conflict that disallowed continued use of Wow!’s space facility with either a hot tub or steam room, amongst other concerns—but for greater details you can read a letter directly from owners Rick and Danielle Bennet on their website (http://www.wowfit.net/closing-august312013.htm)
Wow! Fitness has been known as one of Corvallis’ most excellent facilities, with unmatched customer service—seriously, it seems impossible for them to not answer the phone—and an environment that was comfortable for gym-goers of all demographics.
While the Lebanon location will remain open, one last gesture to Wow! patrons comes in the form of a deal with Timberhill Athletic Club (TAC) —for those that pay dues monthly, they’ll receive September at TAC for free, with dues there beginning in October. Although it is important to note that TAC is quite a bit more expensive in most cases, this final gesture on the part of Wow! reminds us of the positive legacy that will be left behind. You will be missed!
