Renowned Flamenco guitarist Robert “Berto” Boyd will perform “Songs & Dances from Spain and Latin America” in a small solo show at Troubadour Music Center and Instrument Repair Shop this Saturday August 24th.
The 8:00pm show is $10 at the door. Boyd, a musician from the age of five, has been playing guitar for 25 years. He studied music at Ventura College for 3 years before traveling to Spain to attend “Arte Danza y Curso Flamenco en Sanlucar de Barrameda,” with Gerardo Nuñez. He has also studied with Grammy Award winner David Russell, Christopher Parkening, Pepe Romero, and many others.
Boyd, his wife, and their daughter recently moved to Corvallis from Santa Barbara, CA. Besides performing live, Boyd composes, records, gardens, skateboards, and spends time with his family. His wife, Christabeth, is an MD at Corvallis Clinic in urgent care.
Boyd is not the only musician in his family. Fans of rock might recognize the name of his cousin, Brandon Boyd, lead singer of the band Incubus.
