Corvallis’ Earth Day Events: Earth Ball, Scavenger Hunts, and the Pup Crawl

Corvallis is planning its annual Earth Day festivities, which include activities for every age group all day and evening on Saturday, April 20. The Corvallis Environmental Center and Corvallis Parks and Recreation are co-sponsoring two of these events:

The Procession of the Species: An endangered animal procession—get your condor, grey wolf, or grizzly mask on and join the parade. Meet at First and Jackson at noon to assemble; procession starts at 12:30 p.m.

The Earth Ball starts at 7 p.m. at Odd Fellows Hall and will party on until midnight. It’s an “All Species Masquerade,” featuring music by the Sugar Beets and the Deep Woods Band. Tickets are $7 in advance and $9 at the door; kids under 12 are free.

Additionally, the Thyme Garden is hosting its annual Earth Day Celebration, which kicks off its spring and summer programs. Join Rolfe and Janet Hagen to explore their spring herb gardens with an Earth-Factoid Scavenger Hunt. The gardens open on Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. and festivities continue until 5 p.m.

The Pup Crawl, Heartland Humane Society’s annual fundraiser, will be held the following week on Saturday, April 27. Gather at 3 p.m. at Jack Okole’s (140 NW 3rd Street), and then crawl on to Downward Dog, 101 at Big River, Sky High Brewing, then back to Jack Okole’s to party on. Collect prizes, drinks, and food along the crawl, and get special deals at each location. The registration fee of $25 includes a T-shirt and your passport to the festivities at each participating pub.
