Voices for Heroes: Local Musician Featured on Sandy Hook Compilation CD

Randy McCoy, local musician and co-owner of the Little Gym of Corvallis, is featured on a new CD, Connecticut Voices for Heroes. The CD will benefit HealingNewtown Arts Space.

The CD is being released by Voices for Heroes, a Connecticut non-profit that was founded in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy. The CD will be released on Saturday, March 23 at a release party in Connecticut and online at sites like Amazon and iTunes.

Randy’s song “26 Reasons” was inspired by Sandy Hook. He felt very moved by the tragedy and found himself wanting to express the need to establish a more peaceful community.

“It’s a call for that,” he said. “For everybody laying down their differences for the day and sitting around the proverbial table and talking about what can we do.”

The CD was originally going to feature only Connecticut artists. Artists from outside Connecticut will be featured on a second album, Voices from Around the World: The Music. The second album will benefit the Sandy Hook Elementary School Music Department.

Randy’s song was slated to appear on the second album. However, Voices for Heroes loved the song so much that they decided to include it on the first album and bill Randy as a special guest.

A full list of artists on the upcoming CD is available at the Voices for Heroes website: http://www.voicesforheroes.com/.
