Beginning Beekeeping. March 23, 12:30 – 4 p.m.

This course at Shonnard’s Nursery introduces the fundamentals of beekeeping, including equipment, biology, site selection, obtaining and managing bees, and safety concerns. Bean, Grain, and Edible Seeds: Homestead Scale, March 24, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

During the past seven years, the research plots at Sunbow Farm have been a large part of the drive to create the Southern Willamette Valley Bean and Grain Project. Plot plantings have included black, pinto, soy, lentil, red and garbanzo beans, over-wintering peas, three rye varieties, four wheat varieties, and more. All will be demonstrated during this workshop. Bring lunch.

 

Southtown Open Mic Talent Search, March 25, 9 p.m.

This weekly open mic talent search at FireWorks Restaurant in Southtown will soon be the first round in Corvallis’ newest event, The Hearts of the Valley Talent Search (debuting April 10 at the Majestic)! Come listen as local musicians compete to take part in the Talent Search itself—and to win their own professionally-recorded album. Free admission with $2 purchase.

 

Maker Festival: Arts, Tech, Create, Discover, March 27 and 28, 12 – 4 p.m.
