Ever wanted an excuse to slip into something slinky, red, and ravishing? Now’s your chance, bro. The infamous word-of-mouth Red Dress Party (21+) will finally go public Saturday, Feb. 16, downtown at SubZero, and all you need to get yourself in the door (ladies and gents alike) is the $10 admission and the cojones to rock out with your frock out. Show up red dress-less, and your admission bumps up to $15 and you get stuffed into a red dress, anyway.
The event started 12 years ago as a private Burning Man decompression sesh, and even featured a 30-foot flamethrower (whoa). When the original hosts moved to PDX, they passed the Red Dress tradition on to Katy January, who held it at her home for years before it finally outgrew the space (I was there in 2012—that party was begging to go public with its bad self).
The event benefits the Sick Town Derby Dames and will feature a host of DJs, including Susie C, Zach Wear, Travesty, C4 Logic, and Urkel. Doors open at 9 p.m. and music spins until 2:30 a.m. More details are available on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/594077277275845.
I hope you read all of the above in the voice of Stefon, the nightlife correspondent on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update. Because seriously: it has EVERYTHING.
