Swing and blues converge from Friday, Jan. 25 to Sunday, Jan. 27 in a weekend of social dancing and live music for the Corvallis Swing and Blues Weekend. Organized by the Corvallis Swing Dance Society and OSU Blues, the event will keep dancers boogying for over 15 hours spread out across three days.
According to Jeff Anderson of the Corvallis Swing Dance Society, this is the first event of its kind. It’s also a bargain.
“It’s $40 for the whole weekend,” he said, “which is outrageous. We’re going to have four bands, DJs, and late-night dancing.”
As of last week, 80 people have registered; the capacity is 150. Drop-in registration with à la carte pricing will also be available. The weekend is styled on a dance exchange.
“If people want to come and just listen to the music, that’s totally cool,” Anderson said, “but it’s definitely centered on people who are already social dancers and really want to dive into an awesome weekend of swing and blues dancing.”
