Bugs aren’t usually welcome visitors at delis, but this coming Monday is an exception. Chris Marshall, curator of the Oregon State University Arthropod Collection, will present “Beetlemania: For the Love of Bugs” at the Corvallis Science Pub, held on the second Monday of each month at the Old World Deli.
Marshall will bring several specimens of unusual beetles from far-away places, and talk about their ecology and evolution. Participants will also learn about beetles native to the Pacific Northwest.
The OSU Arthropod Collection contains more than three million insects, and is the biggest collection of Pacific Northwest insects in the world. The collection is open to the public by appointment.
“Beetlemania: For the Love of Bugs” is on Monday, May 14.
Science Pub Corvallis takes place on the second Monday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Old World Deli, 341 SW 2nd Street. Admission is free.
