If you’re not yet a regular at the Old World Deli Center on 2nd Street, a favorite haunt of knitting groups, Postal Service workers, and local artists alike, then you probably haven’t spent enough time there. Started in 1977 by by Old World Deli’s Ted and Veronica Cox, Corvallis’ oldest mall hosts venues from the popular Science Pub to monthly gatherings of Oregon State University’s Association of Latin American Students—Veronica makes special Lomito sandwiches, a Chilean favorite, for ALAS get-togethers.
Along with Old World Deli, the historical building is home to Oregon Trail Brewery, Hasson Realtors, the Pegasus Frame Studio and Gallery, Cyrano’s Books, and Shadowsmith Photography.
“We’re really unique,” said Susan Stogsdill, owner and operator of Cyrano’s Books, “this isn’t a combination you’ll find anywhere.”
While there are already plenty of reasons to head over to the Center—browse Pegasus’ stunning art gallery, and order a tasty soup and sandwich from Old World Deli—from November 12-16, the building will host an open house, featuring prize drawings from all six businesses—visit each business to enter! Among other prizes, Old World Deli will raffle a plate of their delectable brownies, Cyrano’s Books a free book repair and beautiful illustrations by Stogsdill, and Oregon Trail Brewery will have plenty of swag. While you’re at the Brewery, take a tour (they’ll be held after 3pm every day during the open house) and taste their super smooth Ginseng Porter, and of course the Beaver-orange Beaver Tail. We promise you’ll have found your next favorite lunch and dinner-time hang-out.
