Second Street Wins City Funds, Mayor Breaks Tie Vote

This evening, Corvallis City Councilors tied in the matter of funding next year’s homeless men’s emergency cold weather shelter. Mayor Biff Traber cast the decisive vote – giving the proposed 545 SW Second Street location the nod.

The matter will now go before Benton County Commissioners tomorrow, Tuesday, July 17 at 12pm at Sunset Building, 4077 SW Research Way, Corvallis. Regardless of how the Commissioners vote, most of the agencies seeking locations for this cold season’s services prefer the Second Street site.

Beyond the cold season, the site is envisioned by the Daytime Drop-in Center and Stone Soup as a year around facility, and may also become a year around homeless shelter.
