Mudita Boutique is Modern, Sophisticated

A new boutique has cropped up in the small, sophisticated space of 221 NW 2nd Street in downtown Corvallis. The name of the store is Mudita, which is Sanskrit for finding joy in the happiness and success of others.

Specializing in modern and contemporary styles, the boutique sells an eclectic array of clothing, jewelry, accessories, and stationary, mostly targeted toward college to middle-aged women.

Mudita is a spinoff from its sister store, Pinky, located in the Northwest 23rd district in Portland. Owners Karen and Seth Carey moved here from Portland around five months ago. Both have ties to Corvallis through Oregon State University, and Seth is a past graduate from Santiam Christian High School.

When asked why they chose Corvallis for their newest business endeavor, Karen replied, “I love Corvallis. It is a rare city that still maintains a sense of community that you can no longer find in the big metropolitan areas. We also wanted to open our store in a town with a university.”

Right now, the boutique is offering a back to school 20 percent discount for university students with a student I.D., lasting until January 14.

The Carey’s strive to provide price-sensitive and affordable inventory, with a focus on items that are desirable to both the minimalistic and trendy crowds. While you will certainly find more than a few things to purchase for yourself, Mudita is also a perfect place to find unique gifts for friends and family.
