Crème de la Corvallis: Week of Sept 27

Thursday, September 27

Bob Welch: The Wizard of Foz.

Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, Main Meeting Room, 645 NW Monroe Ave., Corvallis. 6:30 p.m. Free.

If you’re a Corvallisite and you don’t know about Dick Fosbury, you should… well, you should change that. Long story extremely short: he’s the awesome OSU athlete primarily known for inventing the “backward-over-the-bar” high jump style, killing it at the Olympics. There’s a lot more to the guy, and in support of his new book The Wizard of Fox: Dick Fosbury’s One-Man High-Jump Revolution, Bob Welch will be on hand to tell all sorts of awesome stories. For more info visit https://cbcpubliclibrary.net/fosburys-flop/.

Funk Jam

Bombs Away Café, 2527 NW Monroe Ave., or Cloud and Kelly’s, 126 SW First St., Corvallis. 9 p.m. Free.

It’s funk, and it’s a jam. That means it’s a funk jam! The core players bring their drum kit and other such goodness, and then pump out the backline jam while anyone who signs up gets to join in on whatever instrument they’re digging on. Pretty damn fun and a great way to meet other local musicians! Sign up or just listen. For info, visit: facebook.com/corvallisfunkandjazzjam/.

A politician, a mystery, blackmail, Victorian stuff, hypocrisy, amazing acting, and all for ten bucks. Runs on Sept. 28. Sept. 28, 29, Oct. 5, 6 at 7:30pm; Sept. 30, Oct. 7 at 2:30pm. For ticket info visit, https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?show=90651.
